About

Catherine Cronin founded Cronin Editing in 2013, when she moved to the NYC metro area after more than 10 years in London working in publishing. Over the years, she has worked on books, anthologies, magazine articles, websites, advertising copy, newsletters, blog posts, and donor communications. She has worked with individual writers, small-business owners, nonprofits, and print and online publications. Her 10+ years in book and newspaper publishing taught her about the importance of tailoring text to its intended audience.

Catherine has always loved words. An avid reader from childhood, she received a bachelor’s degree in English and History from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, before moving to London and completing a master of arts in Publishing Studies at City, University of London. She spent more than a decade working in book publishing (at Penguin Random House and Hachette Livre) and at the Guardian News & Media group (working for The Guardian and Observer newspapers). She is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and ACES: the Society for Editing. Her hobbies include native plant gardening, learning about native bees, and practising yoga.

Catherine acknowledges that the area in which she lives and works is occupied by people, herself included, who are largely not indigenous to the area. She lives and works within the traditional territory of the Lenape. She aims through her work as an editor and a parent to play a part in decolonizing language and deepening our understanding of the role language plays in anti-racism.
